About

Paradune is the marriage of two words: the Greek word para meaning side-by-side and the Celtic word dune meaning fortress. A side-by-side fortress, or for us, it just lovingly refers to the farm. The farm is located in the highlands of Ohio nestled amongst the Amish and Mennonite communities, and surrounded by farms growing hay, corn and beans. A seventy-five year old orchard is giving way to new varieties of apples such as Roxbury Russets, Brown Snout Arkansas Black and Dabinetts, as well as an ever growing assortment of English and French cider apples. A creek divides Paradune Brewing Farm into two sides and on its bank stands a five hundred year old cottonwood. This grandfather of a tree began life when Native Americans saw the arrival of the first Colonials and witnessed generation after generation of farmers who worked and cared for this land. Today it stands sentinel over our growing hop yard as Cascade, Nugget, Magnum and Brewer Gold reach skyward.
